No-Spam Policy
Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE), or spam, is junk mail sent via email. Internet users have become increasingly aware of the problems associated with spam as it becomes more and more widespread.
If you have received spam that appears to have come from Sun-Pharmacy.com, be assured it has NOT. Sun-Pharmacy.com sends email related to order status and refill dates only. If you receive spam with a From or Reply-To address containing @sun-pharmacy.com, please understand that it has not come from Sun-Pharmacy.com.
From addresses and Reply-To addresses in email messages can easily be forged and are often forged by spammers to prevent bounce-back messages and reports of abuse. Spammers’ use of @sun-pharmacy.com email addresses as fraudulent From and Reply-To addresses is not unique to Sun-Pharmacy.com - it happens to all websites and domain names. It is also fairly impossible and time-consuming to track and prevent.
If you are interested in tracking and reporting perpetrators of spam you have received, there are many resources on the internet that can help you. Try a search in any search engine for "tracking spammers".
If you have received a questionable email that appears to be from Sun-Pharmacy, please forward the email to:
How Spammers Get Your Email Address
Dictionary Attack
Many spammers use programs that create random lists of addresses for popular free email programs such as hotmail, gmail, and yahoo. For example, this type of program will run through every combination of letters prior to the "@hotmail.com" portion of an email address, so if your address is abc@hotmail.com, this program will eventually randomly generate your email address and spam you.
Spider Programs and Harvesters
Another spammer technique is the use of “spider” programs that search the Internet for email addresses and catalog them in a master database. While not picky, the pages the spammers are particularly likely to visit are web forums, chat rooms and web-based interfaces to usenet because numerous email addresses are likely to be found there.
For example, if you post a comment on a blog and include your email address, a “spider” program will recognize the email address and add it to a list of emails to spam.
If you frequently post comments on the web, we recommend setting up a second, or “throw away” email address specifically for your online comments. Using a "throw away" email address for your online comments is great way to cut down on spam in your main personal email account.
Worm Viruses
Spammers often cooperate with virus authors who equip their worms with small programs that can send bulk emails.
Additionally, these spam sending engines will often scan the user's address book, web cache and files for email addresses. That's another chance for spammers to catch your address, and this one is particularly difficult to avoid.
Be sure to keep your virus software up-to-date and run full system virus scans weekly.
Anti-spam Resources
When seeking information regarding spam and anti-spam techniques, we recommend that our customers seek sources that are not affiliated with specific ecommerce or sales oriented websites.
Therefore, we suggest visiting the www.privacyrights.org list of anti-spam resources.
The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse is a nonprofit consumer organization with a two-part mission -- consumer information and consumer advocacy. It was established in 1992 and is based in San Diego, California. It is primarily grant-supported and serves individuals nationwide.
